I got this for my son's 13th birthday and the first prints were messed up but it was my fault for not adding supports. I've done some research on 3D printers and my son was already pretty educated on this stuff. I do have to say the LCD connector was a bit flimsy, as when if I accidently hit my hand on it the screen would go absolutely haywire. I'd have to fix the wire and then sometimes the screen wouldn't even detect me trying to press something. It's a good printer, I just wish the LCD connector would stay connected and not go haywire.

Easy to setup & follow directions, have been printing since day 1 of the also quick delivery after purchase.

Excellent 3D printer (speed, precision, fine printing, no hangups) easy to set it up and running, we are using it for precision prototyping in medical device engineering!

Decided to jump in and get a 3D printer for my son for his 13th birthday. After months of research, I settled on the ADM5. Being the super mom I inspire to be, I opened it and set it up. First few prints were DEFINITELY trial and error, mostly error on my part. I trusted the daughter’s boyfriend to read the instructions as I set it up.. he skipped a few. At this point, I had no clue what PLA, Silk, print plate, nozzle, or anything meant. I was just hoping and praying I could make one thing before gifting this gem. I finally made a hexagon ball thingy. So proud of it, it sits on my work bench. Since then, I have become a printing master. Something goes wrong, I fix it. Need a new filament? Got ya, what are you making so I grab the right thing? I can say in 3 weeks I have made: and egg tower to hold eggs, wall art, cat stairs for the wall, remote holder, made my own custom phone stand (thank you tinker!), a tea holder for the wall, lots of shelf brackets of all different pop cultures, deck boxes, fidget toys for hubby’s work, a snap together car kit, a puzzle for a Navy Core-man (easy level he can’t figure out), and a bunch of other cool stuff. Kiddo… *face palm* guns, Aztec death whistles, a duck with the face of The Rock, key chains for friends, and ninja throwing stars. THEN I made the mistake of letting the 16/17yr olds in my printable account and came back to a T-Rex shaped like a **** with The Rock’s face saved. I can’t even. Overall, great investment. Wish I saw the multi color one, I would have gotten it because now I really want one for me and as we all know, moms get the min.

First the cons as I’d like to save the best for last. The 5DM’s incompatibility with ABS threw me off. As a veteran user of 3d printers, I’ve been through countless rolls of ABS filament and, its feels limited to only be able to print with PETG and PLA. The location of the filament holder is not best suited for small spaces as you constantly have to move the printer every time you want to change filament.
Now for the pros. This printer is well built. The quality easy puts it at the top of the budget friendly printers. I’m the fact that it is truly plug and play is mind boggling. Having had to level print beds using an A4 sheet of paper(yeah I started early) I really appreciate what FlashForge has brought to the market. The speed and print quality are quite decent for the price. The user interface is clean and the interconnection between mobile app and Flash Print makes it easy to monitor prints on the go via WiFi.
I’d be interested in doing a comparison with a 5M pro but that would have to be after I save up enough money for it. Overall this is a top notch printer
